Laura Guzzo: Illustrations & More

My Messy Studio

Saturday, May 22, 2010

A brief intro - I'm an (emerging) professional illustrator and I just graduated from Moore College of Art & Design with my hard won BFA.

I was voted the "most likely in the illustration department to get lost in the mess of her own studio" and it was well deserved. I started out with one desk and oh so slowly, like a blob of unstoppable goo, the overwhelming horde of my art debris spread to the desk next to me and the one after that. At it's height, the Guzzo Empire had annexed three full size desks, one mini desk, 2/3rds of a wall, and a trashcan, which I used like a shelf to hold my laptop computer.

This is a shot from the end of the year, when my belongings were "neatly" stacked on the table, waiting to be packed up and shipped out. My senior thesis, Apocalypse: The Game, certainly left it's mark. Most of the papers on the wall are from those illustrations.
